Open Innovation and Community Engagement: Opportunities and Challenges

On December 6th, the University "Union-Nikola Tesla" hosted the conference "Open Innovation and Community Engagement: Opportunities and Challenges" as part of the SuDe2Re project. Among the speakers were Prof. Dr. Suzana Gotovac Atlagić from the University of Banja Luka, Prof. Dr. Predrag Ilić, a scientific advisor and the director of the Institute for Protection and Ecology of the Republic of Srpska, who is also a project partner, Prof. Dr. Ljiljana Nikolić Bujanović, and Prof. Dr. Sanja Mrazovac Kurilić from the University "Union-Nikola Tesla," as well as students from the Faculty of Architecture at the University "Union-Nikola Tesla," led by Prof. Dr. Darinka Golubović Matić.

The conference was supported by representatives of the local government, specifically from the municipality of Stari Grad - Belgrade. Through the works presented at the conference, the audience was introduced to the essence of the SuDe2Re project, the basics of ORRI principles, the importance of promoting and engaging young people in research early on, the current application of ORRI practices in partner institutions, open science globally and locally, and the contributions of the University "Union-Nikola Tesla" and the Institute for Protection and Ecology of the Republic of Srpska to ORRI practices.

The presentation by architecture students and a poster session featuring over 30 posters showcased some realized ideas as well as those ready for future implementation, aimed at strengthening ORRI practices and applying key ORRI principles in the fields of environmental protection and urban planning.
