Invitation to a lecture
The University Union Nikola Tesla warmly invites academics and students to a distinguished guest lecture by:
Dr. Martin Sztacho Director of the Laboratory of Cancer Cell Architecture (LOCCA) Institute of Biochemistry and Experimental Oncology First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University National Institute of Cancer Research, Prague, Czech Republic
Calendar Date: Thursday, September 18, 2025
Time: 11:00 – 12:00
Location: Amphitheatre, 9th Floor, University Union Nikola Tesla
Presentation Title: "Spatiotemporal Organization of Biomolecules in Cancer Cells via Phase Separation"
This presentation is part of an ongoing partnership between our Laboratory for Biological Treatment of Water, Faculty of Ecology and Еnvironmental Protection, UUNT and Dr. Sztacho’s LOCCA group, targeting students and the broader scientific community involved in cancer biology, molecular organization, and environmental bio-interactions. A key discussion topic will be the collaboration between the two labs in studying the effects of plastic nanoparticles on cancer cells.
Dr. Sztacho’s team studies the role of abnormal protein structures in cancer development, while our research centers on enzymes that break down plastic nanoparticles.
Both teams ask an important scientific question: Can enzymatic breakdown of plastic nanoparticles reduce malignant changes in cancer cells, at least in vitro? in vitro?
We welcome all interested students and researchers to attend this insightful presentation and participate in the scientific discussion. Everyone is encouraged to join!
