"Unweaving: New Space" – The Pavilion of the Republic of Serbia at the 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale

The Venice Biennale is one of the world’s most prestigious art and architecture events, alternating each year and introducing new themes that bring together the most prominent creators from various fields. This year, the Pavilion of the Republic of Serbia, under the curatorial leadership of Slobodan Jović and the authors Davor Ereš, Jelena Mitrović (Assistant Professor at the Union – Nikola Tesla University, Faculty of Construction Management), Igor Pantić, Sonja Krstić, Ivana Najdanović, and Petar Laušević, presents a unique concept that has attracted significant attention from both the public and the professional community.

The exhibition project titled "Unweaving: New Spaces" offers more than architectural form. In a world constantly being reconfigured by global challenges such as climate change, economic instability, dramatic social inequalities, migration, and the transformations brought by artificial intelligence, the project provides a strong response regarding the potential role of architectural knowledge in understanding and developing new approaches to architectural practice in the face of inevitable changes in global society.

The kinetic installation "Unweaving: New Spaces" represents an approach to architectural materiality that is no longer final and static—it dynamically evolves and reshapes before the visitors’ eyes throughout the exhibition.
