At the Faculty of Ecology and Environmental Protection at "Union Nikola Tesla" University, students participate in mandatory academic activities, including theoretical lectures and practical laboratory work. Students have the opportunity to apply the knowledge gained during theoretical classes through laboratory work and by participating in experiments conducted as part of various research projects led by the faculty.

During the winter semester of the 2024/2025 academic year, first-year students (Fundamentals of Chemistry), second-year students (Environmental Chemistry), third-year students (Water Quality in Urban Areas), as well as master’s students, participated in research focused on monitoring and analyzing water and air quality. They were involved in the activities of the Deep Green Inno EU Horizon project and achieved remarkable results in their research efforts. The award and second place for the scientific paper "Integrating Anaerobic Digestion and Microwave Drying to Improve Sewage Sludge Management in Serbia: Technical, Economic, and Environmental Perspectives," authored by student Teodora Marković, is the best indicator of the students’ engagement in laboratory research. Additionally, students are also involved in the Reinforcing ORRI Platforms project, which is part of the Horizon project group. Aktivnosti studenata su usmerene na istraživanja u laboratoriji i širenja podataka o postignutim rezultatima u cilju doprinosa otvorenoj nauci.
