International politics and security

Master of academic studies (1st degree) at the Faculty of International Politics and Security, University "Union - Nikola Tesla" in Belgrade have 60 ESPB points. A person who has completed the four-year basic studies of higher education institutions and passed the entrance exam in general culture and information can be enrolled in the study program of master's academic studies.

Master's academic studies take place during two semesters (one year). The entire study program consists of a total of 10 one-semester courses. Of these, 4 subjects are compulsory and 3 are chosen from a list of 6 subjects, which is a total of 43 ECTS. The study program also includes a study research paper (SIR), which aims to equip students to prepare the final master's thesis, and it carries 5 ECTS. The final paper has 12 ECTS. The total number of ESPB in master's studies is 60.

The study program MAS International Politics and Security is defined in accordance with the Law on Higher Education of the Republic of Serbia and the Bologna Declaration and is designed to provide an adequate complement of knowledge and skills for future work in important public and private sectors. Students expand the subject of complex social and geopolitical processes, security challenges, risks and threats through scientific-professional and professional-applied courses.

The study program MAS International Politics and Security lasts one year (divided into 2 semesters) and is worth 60 ESPB points. Each elective block contains two subjects. According to the schedule, during the first semester students opt for Elective Subject 1 from Elective Block 1 (Modern Security Systems and Religious Fundamentalism and Extremism); the second semester is scheduled for Elective Subject 2 (Ethics of War and International Organizations) and Elective Subject 3 is chosen from Electoral Block 3 (Globalization and Security and Common Foreign and Security Policy of the European Union).

The study program MAS International Politics and Security is a one-year academic master's study program that aims to educate highly skilled personnel in the field of international politics and security who will be able to engage in the creation and management of complex projects and take up positions with their knowledge, skills and abilities. responsible and high positions in diplomatic missions, state administration and security and defense structures of the country, both in the state and in the private sector.

Training and deepening the knowledge of students necessary for independent work in the field of international politics and security, state institutions, corporations, governmental and non-governmental sectors, research and professional practice is one of the priorities of this study program. In addition, the introduction of students into various fields of application of international politics and security in order to opt for a specific professional profile while enabling professional practices in eminent and relevant institutions.

With this program, students who decide to continue their academic studies at the doctoral level receive a solid enough foundation for successfully following even more complex disciplines at the highest level of the study program.

Through the implementation of the study program conceived in this way, political scientists with a master's degree are trained who possess competence in European and global frameworks.
Master's academic studies last one year. Upon completion of the studies, the candidate acquires 60 ESPB points and a professional title and title - Master's degree in political science for international politics and security, in accordance with the accredited study program. All candidates who have completed the four-year basic academic studies of related faculties in the social and humanities field and passed the entrance test from general culture. Enrollment of candidates for studies is carried out on the basis of and in accordance with the competition stipulated by the Law on Higher Education of the Republic of Serbia.

The goals and tasks of the Faculty of International Politics and Security are aligned with the goals of higher education in the Republic of Serbia, the Law on Higher Education and the Statute of the University of Belgrade. The objectives of the master's academic study program at the Faculty of International Politics and Security indicate what to strive for and what is the desired result and outcome of studying. It is primarily reflected in the intention for graduates to achieve a high level of competence and academic skills, as well as to perfect the methodologies for their acquisition. Concrete results in the field of university education in diplomacy, international politics and security are especially emphasized as the main goals. One of the more prioritized goals is the high-quality transfer of significant scientific and professional knowledge and skills from the aforementioned areas, as well as the development and improvement of scientific and research activities and concrete skills of public speaking, lobbying, diplomatic protocol, etc.

The study program of master's academic studies has a realistic and clearly defined goal that stems from the vision and mission of the Faculty to provide all students with equal opportunities for quality education and progress in their career or future profession. The goal is for students to occupy high and promising positions in the sector of international politics and security, to work in the state administration, to be engaged in the governmental and non-governmental sector that deals with issues of international politics and security, the Ministries of Interior and Foreign Affairs and Defense, to be the organizers and future bearers of research and scientific work for the social-humanistic field.
After completing their studies, they will have a wide range of knowledge to perform the duties of a master's degree in political science for international politics and security and will be able to perform a wide range of various tasks in the domain of international politics and security in the areas of state administration, to work at diplomatic and consular missions, in the political sectors, of security and defense, to be analysts in the security system, to participate as experts in international politics and security in state authorities, public administration, in the media and corporations and to be researchers on international and state projects.

In addition to basic educational goals and tasks, the Faculty of International Politics and Security also develops scientific and research activities in the field of political science. As one of its basic tasks, the Faculty determines quality education and training of highly competent political scientists. At the Faculty, they acquire broad interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary knowledge, that is, they acquire and develop complex professional, professional and work skills and abilities, with provided opportunities for permanent specialist training and academic advancement. In order to realize the tasks of its basic teaching and educational activity, the Faculty implements the following levels and types of study programs: study program of basic academic studies - OAS International Politics and Security; and as a one-year program of Master's academic studies, and study program of doctoral academic studies - DAS International Politics and security for three years.

The goal of the study program is to achieve competencies and a combination of academic knowledge and professional skills in the field of social and humanities.

The study program MAS International Politics and Security was established with the following goals:

• training students for the application of learned knowledge from fundamental and professional scientific disciplines and fields (philosophy, sociology, political science, terrorism, international relations, etc.).
• achievement of professional competencies of students from various fields through scientific-professional and professional-applied subjects,
• the development of students' creative abilities to consider social problems and their ability to think critically and draw conclusions,
• developing teamwork skills,
• developing professional ethics,
• developing the ability to publicly present work results,
• training in the use of common computer tools for creating documents, presentations, performing calculations and evaluating safety risks at work,
• training for continuing education at higher levels of study.

The goal of the study program is to educate experts who have a high level of necessary knowledge and can be involved in the creation and management of complex projects, performing the most delicate tasks in the state administration, diplomatic missions, security and defense structures in both the state and private sectors of the RS, or to enable career advancement in existing business positions.
With an innovative and adapted study program enriched with numerous extracurricular activities, professional practices in recognized institutions, the Faculty, i.e. The university adapts to the new times in an effort to respond in the best possible way to the current needs of society and adapt to the galloping changes, while ensuring the highest academic standards.

Students who have completed the master's studies MAS International Politics and Security are competent to solve and analyze real problems from practice, as well as to continue their education if they decide to do so. Competencies include, first of all, the development of critical thinking skills, the ability to analyze and understand problems with synthesis and application of solutions, predicting the behavior of the chosen solution with a clear idea of the good and bad sides of a certain decision.

Students of this level of study possess high competencies for applying knowledge in practice and monitoring and applying novelties in the profession, they are able to adapt to all the challenges that the modern world and the accelerated, complex dynamics of business bring with them.

Upon completion of the DAS International Politics and Security master's program, the student acquires general and professional competencies:

• mastering the methods, procedures and processes of scientific research;
• analysis, synthesis and application of fundamental knowledge (sociology, philosophy, political science) to recognize, describe and solve practical problems;
• solving problems and tasks using interactive, interdisciplinary methods;
• understanding of complex geopolitical turmoil, future challenges and threats to the stability of the state;
• risk assessment, occupational safety in corporate companies
• knowledge of basic legal and economic concepts, market laws and mechanisms;
• exchange of information, ideas, problems and solutions with people in the profession and outside the profession;
• development of critical and self-critical thinking and approach, as well as a positive attitude towards the importance of lifelong learning in personal and professional development;
• cooperation in professional team work and taking an ethical position in solving problems;

Upon completion of studies, the student acquires subject-specific competencies for the field of international politics and security, such as - methodology and independent writing of scientific research work, international organizations, theories and models of democracy in modern societies, doctrines of non-violence, modern security systems, analysis of contemporary political and security phenomena, religious fundamentalism and extremism, cyber security as well as numerous economic, legal, humanitarian, ethical aspects of the study of security phenomena.
